piano / trumpet

Born and raised in Hawaii, Aubrey has always been passionate about music. She started studying under Mrs. Christine Suehisa-Jang at 4 years old and took lessons for 8 years. At the age of 12, she picked up the trumpet and has been active in the band community ever since. She now studies trumpet at the University of Hawai’i under HSO trumpet player JoAnn Lamolino. She also works at Punahou School as a marching band staff and is a member of the UH Wind Ensemble and Brass Quintet.

Music has shaped her life and taught her many valuable skills; how to persevere through challenges, how to work in harmony with others, how to practice with discipline, and how to take responsibility being a few of them. The character of her teachers has inspired her to pursue music education at the University of Hawai’i. She hopes to become a band director and shape the lives of future generations just as her teachers have shaped hers. She volunteers frequently at Moanalua High School, her alma mater, as a staff for their marching band. During the summer she works with the students of Highlands Intermediate as a band instructor. Ultimately, she wants to inspire her students to believe in their potential and find a passion for music.
