Kainalu has been playing music professionally since 2015. His current music accolades include playing stages around the islands including The Republik, Maui Arts and Culture Center, Hawaii Theatre, along with a variety of venues on Oahu, New York, and California. He’s shared the bill with groups such as Dinosaur Jr., Beach Bunny, and Ty Segall, among others. Recently his band was nominated for a Na Hoku award for their album released in 2022. Kainalu has performed/recorded guitar, bass, piano, and vocals with a variety of groups including: Dreams of Future Machines, The Honolulu Jazz Quartet, DNA Muse, The Mauve, The Common Dandies, and Fungi Queen, with playing styles ranging from rock, alternative, indie, reggae, and jazz. He hopes to share his love for music and passion for the arts with his students and help them to develop their sound!
