Matt
Cordier

Matt Cordier is a Honolulu-based musician and educator. He graduated Northern Illinois University with a degree in music and dance performance then spent the next decade and a half soaking in the music and culture of Chicago.

 

Matt found his home in the Chicago dance scene, accompanying classes for The Dance Center at Columbia College, The Chicago Academy for the Arts, The Academy of Movement and Music, The Seldoms, The Dance COLEective, and Thodos Dance Chicago. Matt has over two decades of teaching experience in private and group settings. While in Chicago, he was a staff teacher at Vic's Drum Shop. He served four years as a staff member at Yamaha’s Sounds of Summer program and has coached several elementary and high school percussion sections. As a player, Matt was a founding member of the Hot & Dirty Brass Band. Past musical highlights include playing for the award winning reggae band Roots Rock Society, cabaret act The Kit Kat Honeys, industrial rock legends Christ Analogue, downtempo electronica group The Atomica Project, and an electro-house drumming residency with DJ D-Rex at the Original Mothers.

 

Currently, Matt can be heard playing percussion with the Dad Han Ensemble at their monthly Vibe event held at Capitol Modern. He is also a regular member of the reggae collective, Deep Aloha.
