Malia found her musical passion at a very young age. As a child, she became enamored
with musicals, watching films such as The Wizard of Oz, The Sound of Music, and Mary
Poppins countless times. As she grew older, her deep appreciation for music flourished.

She began playing the piano at the age of six and has since continued to embark on her
musical journey. Aside from learning the piano, she belonged to her school’s choir
starting from third grade up until high school. Malia has performed in talent shows and
at school ceremonies. In 2012, she passed the ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal
Schools of Music) Grade 1 and Grade 2 piano examinations.

Malia can be described as a versatile musician. Although she is classically trained, she
plays a variety of genres such as R&B, pop, rock, and musical theatre. A few of her
favorite classical works are by Debussy, Chopin, and Scarlatti and some of her favorite
artists are Alicia Keys, Adele, and Ed Sheeran.

She has received a piano scholarship during her time at the University of Hawaii at
Mānoa. Malia is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts Music degree in piano. Some of
her other interests are songwriting, hiking, and playing the ukulele.

Malia hopes to introduce students into the realm of music, to teach and support them on
their musical journey, and to learn from them as we all continue to expand our musical
knowledge and grow as musicians together.
